Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to sign Jonathan Castro Otto, according to AS.

The Spanish defender joined Wolves on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid last summer.

But the 24-year-old is on the brink of sealing a permanent switch to Molineux, Spanish publication AS reports.

The report adds that Atleti need to fund the move to sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata on loan and it seems like Wolves will benefit from their immediate need for money.

Jonny has been a big hit with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, playing 19 Premier League games to help Wanderers reach eighth in the table.

Wolves fans would have been crying out for a permanent deal in the summer but, considering their wish looks set to come true well in advance of that, it can only be a good thing.

Jonny, an unused sub in Saturday’s FA Cup draw with Shrewsbury Town, would be Nuno’s first major signing of the window.
