Spanish outlet Cadena Sar claim Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to complete a permanent move for on-loan defender Jonny from La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid.

A three-time Spain international, Jonny is one of the first names on the team sheet under Nuno Espirito Santo this season as Wolves continue to play far beyond expectations in the top tier of English football.

Jonny, 24, has made 22 league and cup appearances for Wolves, scoring one goal and another assist – as well as helping his loan side keep six clean sheets.

Atletico need to reduce their wage bill after bringing in Alvaro Morata on an 18-month loan deal from Chelsea. Diego Simeone was expected to sell Nikola Kalinic, but he has performed a u-turn regarding the Croatia international.

Another Spanish outlet, Cope Radio, claim a permanent move for Jonny will cost Wolves a big £13million fee – more than double the £6million Atletico paid Celta Vigo for Jonny’s services last summer.

It remains to be seen if Wolves will be able to push through a deal before the end of the window, while the club also seem to be in the market for a striker.
