Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly keen on signing Southampton striker Sam Gallagher.
According to a report from the Express and Star, Wolves’ hopes of landing Southampton striker Sam Gallagher may well depend on the Premier League side bolstering their own options before the deadline.
The Express and Star reports that Wolves are keen on adding to their options up front this summer even after the loan acquisition of Leo Bonatini – and Gallagher is the player that the Championship club’s hierarchy have earmarked as their favoured option.

However, the path to the 21-year-old’s signature is certainly not clear, with the Express and Star reporting that the Saints youngster is also wanted by a number of Wolves’ second tier rivals, while the St Mary’s outfit may ultimately decide against letting him go anyway.
According to the Express and Star, there is a chance that Mauricio Pellegrino will want a new striker signed before he gives a loan exit for Gallagher the green light – meaning that the deal is not close to being completed currently.
It would certainly be a boost for Wolves if they could bring Gallagher in as, while he has struggled to break into the Southampton side, he showed during a loan spell with Blackburn last season that he is capable of scoring regularly in the Championship.
He scored 11 times in 42 games for a side that struggled last year, so Nuno Espirito Santo may be hoping that if his side can do well during the coming campaign, then perhaps Gallagher’s goal tally would look a lot more impressive.
