According to Calciomercato, Wolves are readying a €10 million (£9 million) bid to sign Juventus forward Douglas Costa.

The Italian news outlet’s revelation comes after the Brazilian was also linked with Leeds and Everton.

It was TuttoJuve who said that Carlo Ancelotti had been offered the 30-year-old.

Elsewhere, Calciomercato said Marcelo Bielsa wants Costa, as he’s a fan of the South American’s technical skills.

However, it looks like Wolves have made the first move for the attacker, who was described as ‘ruthless’ by his coach at Shakhtar Donetsk, Mircea Lucescu.

The Bundesliga quote Lucescu as saying: “He’s just 24 and can reach Robben’s level in the years to come. He’s a very strong player, naturally left-footed but can play on the right too. And he is ruthless and unstoppable when cutting in from the wings. He’s on the same level as James Rodriguez.”

You might be wondering how £9 million is ever going to be enough to land Costa, a 31-cap Brazil international who was among Europe’s best in his prime.

He has won two Bundesliga titles, and is a three-time Serie A winner.

The situation is this.

Costa has seriously struggled on loan at Bayern Munich this season, and doesn’t appear to have a future in Turin.

Gremio looked a likely destination, but as Calciomercato state, their exit from the Copa Libertadores has covered that move in doubt.

If Wolves can bring Costa to the Premier League for under £10 million, it would surely be one of the signings of the summer.
