Wolverhampton Wanderers looked into a deadline day move for Sheffield United striker Oliver McBurnie but ultimately ran out of time.
That’s according to The Telegraph (9:35pm), Wolves gave up on a move for Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore after demands reached more than £7million.
Cardiff wanted £12million, much more than Wolves were looking to pay, and they then ran out of time to make a deal for McBurnie happen.
Wolves allegedly fancied bringing the Scot to Molineux, which had been rumoured way back in April when Nuno Espirito Santo was still in charge.
McBurnie cost Sheffield United £20million in 2019, having hit 24 goals for Swansea City in the 2018-19 season.
The goals haven’t flowed quite as freely in Yorkshire for McBurnie, finding the net just seven times in 71 games for the Blades.

Sheffield United would likely take a major loss if they were to sell McBurnie now, and Wolves may have sensed a bargain.
They already have Raul Jimenez, Fabio Silva and new signing Hwang Hee-chan, but targeting Moore and then McBurnie suggested that Wolves were keen to land a big target man.
Branded ‘quality’ and ‘unplayable’ by former Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo, McBurnie would have given Bruno Lage another option in attack, but any move will now have tow aid until January.
