According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Wolves are considering making a stunning move to bring Robbie Keane back to Molineux this month – almost 19 years after he left the club initially.

Keane came through the ranks with the club and scored 29 goals in all competitions before departing for Coventry City in 1999. After a sensational career that has seen the 37-year-old also play for the likes of Inter Milan, Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, it had appeared that he was approaching a point where he may be considering hanging up his boots.

He left MLS side LA Galaxy in 2016 and ended up moving to ATK in the Indian Super League. However, Wolves – who wanted to sign the Republic of Ireland legend last summer, according to the Mirror – are hoping to tempt him into one final run back in England.

The Mirror reports that Nuno Espirito Santo wants to sign Keane, and that the striker is able to secure an early release from his contract in India, which would hint that it may possibly come down to how keen he is to head back to Molineux.

Certainly, he would be forgiven for looking at the current Championship table and being extremely tempted at the prospect of returning to Wolves as Nuno’s men currently find themselves 14 points clear of the play-off places with 20 games to go this season and almost nailed on to secure automatic-promotion back to the Premier League.

So after being a part of a Wolves side that finished just outside the top six during both of his two full seasons with the club before his move to Highfield Road, perhaps he may now get the chance to address the unfinished business nearly two decades on.
