Wolverhampton Wanderers plan to sell Rafa Mir this summer with La Razon reporting the striker could replace Liverpool target Youssef En-Nesyri at Sevilla.

The irony won’t be lost on Wolves fans.

While Fabio Silva and Willian Jose have struggled to fill a Raul Jimenez-shaped void at Molineux, a player farmed out on loan last summer simply can’t stop scoring.

In all competitions, Mir has found the net 13 times in 30 matches for La Liga strugglers Huesca, including a Jimenez-esque brace in Saturday’s shock 2-0 win at Levante.

But if Wolves fans hoped to see the one-time Valencia wonderkid handed a second chance in the Black Country – his most recent appearance in Old Gold coming in 2018 – they may be disappointed.

La Razon reports Wolves plan to cash in on Mir this summer.

Sevilla are interested and see the powerhouse number nine as a successor to much-admired Morocco international En-Nesyri at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.

The reigning Europa League champions rejected a £27 million bid for En-Nesyri from West Ham in January.

But, according to 90Min, they will face a renewed battle to keep him in the summer with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool expressing interest in one of Europe’s most in-form hitmen, along with Manchester United and Dortmund.

Mir, a rangy number nine whose speed and movement belies his 6ft 3in frame, certainly shares a lot of stylistic similarities with En-Nesyri.

La Razon adds Huesca have the option to turn Mir’s loan deal into a permanent transfer to the tune of £11 million. Such a fee, however, is likely to be well out of their reach, even if the Oscenses manage to claw their way out of the relegation zone.
