Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a bid of £6.3 million to sign Alhassan Yusuf from IFK Goteborg, according to ScoreNigeria, though they are likely to face competition from Sheffield United.

This is not the first time the giants of the Black Country have been linked with a 19-year-old Nigerian with the engine of a Range Rover. And it won’t be the last either.

Yusuf was absolute revelation in the 2019 Allsvenskan season, winning Sweden’s Young Player of the Year award. He has started this year quite impressive too, producing three assists in four matches so far.

And considering that Wolves are always on the lookout for rough diamonds, it’s no surprise that Yusuf’s superlative displays have caught their eye.

ScoreNigeria claim that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are willing to pay £6.3 million for his services, before potentially loaning him out to Swedish outfit Grasshoppers for the season.

Sheffield United are also interested, though they were only willing to pay a fraction of the fee Wolves have put on the table.

One of the most ambitious clubs in European football have been chasing Yusuf since the autumn of last year. And, when speaking to Aftonbladet about a potential move to Molineux, he could hardly have sounded more keen if he’d tried.

“It is huge for me,” he beamed.

“I feel ready any moment now (to make the next step) if something concrete turns up. If I get that chance, yes (I will move). It would be a good opportunity.”
