According to the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers want to sign goalkeeper Danny Ward from Leicester City this summer.

Wolves are set for big changes this summer as Bruno Lage comes in for his first season in charge, and Rui Patricio looks set for Roma.

Wolves are starting to look at other goalkeepers to replace Patricio, and it’s believed that Ward is now a top target for the Molineux side.

Wolves’ interest in Ward

It’s noted that Wales goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts is set to join Wolves after Euro 2020, and that could be a real draw for Ward.

The 28-year-old joined Leicester for £12.5million in 2018 as he decided to leave Liverpool, but he has never made a Premier League appearance for the Foxes.

Ward did choose to sign a new contract in April, keeping him at Leicester until 2025 – meaning Wolves may have to pay big money to sign him.

Ward’s impressive summer

He may not be featuring for Leicester, but Ward is Wales’ first-choice goalkeeper at Euro 2020, and he’s been having a great tournament.

Switzerland found it hard to beat him, he kept a clean sheet against Turkey and helped limit Italy to just the one goal on Sunday, sending Wales through.

Andy King praised Ward as one of the ‘outstanding’ players at Euro 2020, branding him ‘absolutely brilliant’ – which is exactly why Wolves now want to sign him.
