According to Sky Sports, Wolves are interested in signing Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car, who is also wanted by West Ham and Tottenham.

What’s the story?

Well, Bruno Lage is clearly keen to add another centre-back to his squad before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.

Marseille are willing to sell their No.15 as they look to recoup some money lost as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Ligue 1 outfit are demanding £17m for the 24-year-old.

While that is affordable for Wolves, they have an uphill task in convincing the 16-cap Croatia international to move to Molineux.

Sky Sports add that Caleta-Car wants to continue playing in Europe if he leaves Marseille, something Wolves cannot offer.

However, West Ham can. The east Londoners are said to have made a bid worth £11.9m for the Šibenik-born defender.

Have Wolves already lost Duje Caleta-Car to Tottenham?

By the sounds of it, Wolves may have already lost out on Caleta-Car.

According to Croatian news outlet Sportklub, the Marseille colossus is on his way to N17 to join Tottenham.

Since that broke, things have gone relatively quiet.

However, there could definitely be some truth in it. Fabio Paratici has made a few attempts to sign Nuno Espirito Santo a centre-back, but to no avail.

Spurs have made moves to sign Jules Kounde and Pau Torres, although both La Liga stars turned down the approach.

As a result, the north Londoners could easily have turned to Caleta-Car.

As aforesaid, he wants European football, something that Spurs could just about offer in the form of the UEFA Conference League.

Keep your eyes on this saga, as Marseille are actively looking to move their best assets on before Tuesday’s deadline.
