Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in the mx for Angel Correa.
According to AS, Wolverhampton Wanderers have called Atletico Madrid to ask about a deal for attacker Angel Correa amid links to Tottenham Hotspur.
Wolves are in the market for new additions ahead of their Europa League qualifying campaign, and a new forward should be on the radar to add competition for Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez.
It’s now believed that Wolves have asked about Correa, in an attempt to land another former Atletico Madrid man having landed Jimenez and Jonny too.
Correa, 24, only hit three goals and two assists last season, with some feeling that his attacking flair was shackled by manager Diego Simeone.
The Argentinian is now likely to move on, and he would be an exciting addition given his untapped potential and his versatility to play wide, up front or behind a striker.
Wolves have been offloading wingers this summer in Helder Costa and Ivan Cavaleiro, meaning they appear to be going all in on the 3-4-1-2 system, so another striker is key.
Correa would fit the bill for that system, but Wolves hopes of bringing him to the Premier League may end up relying on what Tottenham Hotspur say about him.
Sky Sports claim that Atletico have offered Correa to Spurs during talks for Kieran Trippier, who joined Atletico in a quickfire deal on Wednesday. Tottenham have seemingly yet to answer Atletico about a deal for Correa, meaning Wolves may face a wait.
Trippier’s move going through doesn’t necessarily mean Spurs won’t be taking Correa in a separate deal, and it would be understandable if he prioritises a Champions League move over Wolves, even though they’re showing great ambition.
