Wolverhampton Wanderers have made the first move for Reims defender Axel Disasi with L’Equipe reporting that a £13.5 million bid has arrived from Molineux.
With just 12 months remaining on the contract of a talented young centre-back, Reims will surely have no choice but to cash in during a summer in which all clubs in France are haemorrhaging money at an alarming rate.
Disasi is by far and away their most ‘sellable’ asset with a host of clubs on the other side of the Channel expressing an interest.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Southampton have all been linked, though the first official bid has come from Wolves.
L’Equipe reports that they made an offer of £13.5 million on Thursday and it remains to be seen how Reims respond.
“I know of the interest of Sevilla, of course. But (a move to Spain) will not be easy. At this time, the player is closer to the Premier League,” president Jean-Pierre Caillot told RMC recently, while hinting that a move to Arsenal could be on the cards.

It is no secret that The Gunners are crying out for at least one new centre-back, though Disasi also feels like the archetypal Wolves signing – even if he is not represented by Jorge Mendes.
Young, talented and with plenty of time to improve, the 22-year-old ticks a lot of boxes for a Wolves side who are dreaming of a place in the Champions League next season.
