According to The Mirror (19/07, p67), Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to swoop in and sign Norwich City defender Max Aarons.
It’s claimed that Nuno Espirito Santo believes that Aarons will be a valuable addition to his squad this summer.
Aarons is valued at around £20million, and Wolves are ready to hand him a Premier League return following Norwich’s relegation.
Matt Doherty is Wolves’ first-choice right wing back, but he has little competition right now, meaning Adama Traore has played in that role at times.
Adding Aarons may give Nuno a more natural option, as well as a potential heir to Doherty given that Aarons is eight years younger than the Irishman.
Wolves may well see an opportunity to get in and land Aarons, given that Tottenham Hotspur appear to be backing away.
Many had expected Aarons to end up at Spurs, but The Times claimed earlier this month that Jose Mourinho doesn’t think he is big enough.
Aarons, 20, stands at 5ft 10 in tall, but isn’t particularly physical. That may put Mourinho off him, and allow Wolves to swoop in and get him.
