According to German editorial Kicker, Wolverhampton Wanderers have also shown an interest in reported Newcastle United target Benoit Badiashile this summer.

The Monaco defender has been heavily linked with an exit from the club.

A report by France Football claimed he was the subject of two offers from the Premier League last year, while his current price tag has dropped to £23 million.

Newcastle are reportedly keen on him with RMC highlighting the Magpies’ interest back in May. But now the Tyneside club seemingly face competition from Wolves.

Kicker suggest Wolves and Manchester United have seen initial approaches rejected by Monaco, while Bayer Leverkusen are also in the race for his signature.

Badiashile, 19, stands at 6ft 4inch and is a towering central defender.

The youngster has been a pillar in Monaco’s steady climb following their near shock relegation two years ago, starting 39 games in all competitions since his debut.

He has begun this season in fine form, scoring in the 2-2 draw with Reims.

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke of the need to bulk up his side’s squad following their 1-0 Europa League quarter final defeat to champions Sevilla.

The Midlands club have hopes of gate-crashing the Premier League’s top four.

Wolves, however, are vulnerable to losing their better players and they may feel this season is their last chance before Raul Jimenez, Ruben Neves and Adama Traore move on.
