Wolverhampton Wanderers are considering a move for the young striker, who has also reportedly been watched by the likes of Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report from the Daily Star Sunday (13/05; page 49), Wolves are now eyeing a move for Sunderland striker Joel Asoro, while Tottenham are amongst the list of clubs to have watched the youngster.

The 19-year-old has been a real shining light in what has proved to be another miserable season for the Black Cats, who will now be preparing for a campaign in League One following their relegation from the Championship.

The Daily Star Sunday reports that Asoro has one year left on his deal at the Stadium of Light, and a host of clubs have been taking a look at a potential move for the forward – who is set to cost around £1.5 million if he decides against agreeing the contract offer that Sunderland have reportedly put on the table.

Spurs, Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Newcastle have all been watching the Swede, according to the Daily Star Sunday (13/05; page 49), while Wolves are planning to celebrate their promotion to the top flight by making their own move for Asoro, who shone when the two teams met on the final day of the season.

Sunderland denied Wolves the chance to bring up their century of points for the campaign as they stormed to a 3-0 victory. Asoro may not have scored, but he was extremely impressive and did find the back of the net with a stunning strike the week before away at Fulham.

The teenager is arguably one of the players who may actually benefit from Sunderland’s relegation if he stays. He has played 26 times in the second tier this term but only made 11 starts, so the drop in level may ensure that he is allowed to be a key player for the Black Cats.

But while the first-team prospects may be tempting him to stay, the chance to join Wolves or the likes of Spurs or Newcastle – if they end up making bids – must be extremely appealing given that there remains plenty of uncertainty around his current club right now.
