Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to make goalkeeper Matija Sarkic their first signing of the summer with the Express and Star reporting that the Aston Villa youngster is in talks over a bargain move to Molineux.
With his contract due to expire at the end of June, it always seemed likely that one of the most exciting academy graduates to emerge out of Bodymoor Heath in recent years would be on his way out of Villa this summer.
But few of a claret and blue persuasion were expecting to see him make the short trip across the Midlands from Birmingham to Wolverhampton.
According to reports, Wolves are set to sign the 22-year-old Montenegro international on a free transfer, and are planning to send him out on loan for the 2020/21 season.
Such news is unlikely to go down too well amongst the Aston Villa fanbase, particularly as Sarkic is highly-regarded by many after five years honing his trade at the club.

The Grimsby-born goalkeeper made a big impression during his first spell in top-flight football this season too, keeping six clean sheets on loan at Livingston and even grabbing an assist in a historic victory over Celtic.
But with Aston Villa boasting a whole host of talented shot-stoppers, it seems that Sarkic is the odd one out.
The youngster had been linked with a move to Sunderland, via The Sun (24 May, page 59).
Though the Black Cats should still have hope that a deal can be done, given that Wolves believe Sarkic would benefit from another short-term spell elsewhere.
