Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly hopeful that they could win the race for Joao Felix.
Wolves are hoping that Jorge Mendes will help them land Joao Felix from Benfica, and are optimistic that they may be able to sign the 19-year-old a fee significantly below the staggering release clause in his contract, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
Felix is clearly one of the most exciting talents anywhere in Europe right now. The 19-year-old went into this season still awaiting his first-team debut, but he has gone on to score seven goals in the Portuguese top flight and nine in all competitions.
TEAMtalk reports that the attacking midfielder has a release clause of around £105 million, but that has not stopped a number of sides taking an interest in a potential move for the youngster.
According to TEAMtalk, Wolves are one team that are very keen on Felix and the Premier League side have reached out to super-agent Mendes to try and help them get a move across the line. The report adds that they are hopeful that they could sign him for significantly less and may consider inserting a huge sell-on clause into the bid.
It would be an incredible coup for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men if they could pull off a deal for the teenager at some stage in the future. He is a name to look out for, and is probably a player that is being discussed by all of the top clubs across Europe.
But with Wolves showing with players like Ruben Neves that they can leave everyone stunned with their work in the transfer market, it would perhaps take a brave person to bet against them going on and winning the race to sign Felix.
