The Ireland youth international has travelled to Spain to join Wolves’ Under-23 side.
Birmingham Live have reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken Irish teenager Andrew Lyons on trial with a view to a permanent contract from Bohemians.
Just 18 years of age, Lyons has already made six appearances from Irish Premier League side Bohemians and has captained the club’s Under-18 side in the UEFA Youth League against FC Midtjylland this season.
Lyons is recognised as a right-back and is said to have a contract with the Irish club until December 31, making him available on a free in just over a month’s time. Indeed, he can sign a pre-contract now under the Bosman ruling.
The defender is highly-rated in his own country and has even been called up to Ireland’s Under-19 squad this season, earning four caps against Bosnia, Faroe Islands and Holland in European qualifying, as well as Wales in a friendly.
The report has stated that Lyons has immediately travelled to Spain to join Rob Edwards’ Under-23 side who are taking on the club’s feeder side Jumilla.
If Lyons does join Wolves permanently, he would follow in the footsteps of current Wolves ace Matt Doherty who joined the club from Bohemians in 2010 and has gone on to make 220 senior appearances for the club.
