According to Mundo Deportivo, Wolves still have to pay for Willian Jose, despite deciding not to activate their option to buy.
What’s the story?
Well, when the Brazilian arrived at Molineux on loan in January, Wolves and Real Sociedad agreed on a number of clauses.
First, Real Sociedad agreed to give Wolves an option to buy the 29-year-old for €25 million (£21.5 million).
Secondly, Wolves agreed to pay compensation to the Spanish side if they decided not to activate their option to buy.
Now, Wolves have been forced to pay Real Sociedad a sum in the region of €3 million – €4 million (£2.6 million – £3.4 million) after deciding not to sign Willian Jose.
The exact figure is unclear, although we know it’ll be at least £2.6 million.
Wolves made the right decision

In truth, Willian Jose was awful for Wolves.
In 17 Premier League outings, he scored just one goal, and even that came against the division’s whipping boys Sheffield United.
You could argue that Wolves have made a mess of this, after being forced to pay for a player who flopped for them, and won’t even be staying.

However, it is what it is. Simply put, it’s a no-brainer to spend around £2.6 million for Wolves to wash their hands of the South American.
It’s either that, or spend £21.5 million to sign him permanently, which would be an absolutely woeful move.
Hopefully, Wolves can learn from this mistake.
