Wolverhampton Wanderers are eyeing up Bruno Lage as their next manager if Nuno Espirito leaves for Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s according to Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias, who believe that Lage is on the list of potential replacements.
There’s no immediate threat of Nuno leaving Wolves, but The Express do claim that he is one of Tottenham’s preferred candidates if Jose Mourinho moves on.
With Football.London noting that there is now a growing expectation inside Tottenham that Mourinho won’t be at the club next season, Wolves may soon be on red alert.
Nuno has done a great job in the last four years, but this season has been tricky, and some may not be opposed to a fresh start at Molineux.
If that does happen, Lage is thought to be a target – and you’ll be stunned to learn that he is a client of agent Jorge Mendes.

Lage does have a little history in England, as he was assistant to Carlos Carvalhal at both Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea City before returning to Portugal in 2018.
Lage was Benfica B boss before stepping into the first-team setup, winning the 2019 league title before being sacked in 2020 despite winning 51 of his 76 games in charge.
The 44-year-old appears to be a bright young coach, and with Mendes pulling the strings, Lage does make sense as a potential replacement, with Spurs possibly sensing a chance to move for Nuno.
