Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly after one of the Championship’s best defenders in Bristol City ace Joe Bryan.

According to a report from the Bristol Post, Wolves have joined the race to sign Joe Bryan from Bristol City this summer with the left-back heading into the final year of his contract at Ashton Gate and unlikely to sign a fresh deal.

Bryan has undoubtedly established himself as one of the finest defenders in the Championship. He scored five goals and provided three assists in the league for Lee Johnson’s side, and scored one of their goals in their famous win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup.

The Bristol Post suggests that he is likely to leave the Robins this summer and has a host of clubs interested in a potential move, including Newcastle United – who are said to be leading the chase – Leeds United and Middlesbrough.

And now the Bristol Post has added that Premier League newbies Wolves are also keen on the 24-year-old, who is likely to cost £6 million with his contract set to run out in less than a year.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have certainly shown a lot of ambition in the market thus far. It already appears that few will be expecting Wolves’ stay in the top flight to be a brief one, and signing Bryan would probably make their supporters even more confident.

Barry Douglas was superb during his first year at Molineux, but pairing him with Bryan down the left flank in some way could be a fantastic move that will undoubtedly make Wolves even more stable defensively, and even more frightening when going forward.
