Reading will allow highly-rated forward Danny Loader to leave the Madejski when his contract expires in July, with Wolverhampton Wanderers reigniting their interest in a player who slipped through the net a year ago, according to Sky Sports.

Back in August 2019, when everything was right with the world, it seemed only a matter of time before one of the most exciting youngsters in the Football League was pulling on Old Gold and posing for photos at Molineux.

Wolves had agreed terms with Loader but, with time ticking down, Reading got cold feet and backed out of the deadline day deal at the 11th hour.

Considering that Wolves were set to pay a multi-million fee for the England U20 international, Reading might wish they could turn back the clock now.

According to Sky, the Royals now have little choice but to let Loader leave for absolutely nothing as his contract runs down. They have even withdrawn an offer of fresh terms, with the global health crisis hitting Mark Bowen’s side hard in the pocket.

And Wolves, as you might expect, are back in as they look to finally snap up a long-time target without spending a penny.

Loader has actually started just one Championship game throughout 2019/20, with a further six appearances coming from the bench. It feels unlikely that he would be in a position to challenge for a first-team berth at Wolves initially, with a loan spell to another Football League club surely a possibility.
