According to a report from TEAMtalk, Wolves are looking to negotiate a deal with Middlesbrough that would see the Premier League newbies potentially pay £26 million to sign Adama Traore this summer.

Traore seems to have been linked with a move from the Riverside Stadium for much of the summer after an incredibly impressive run of form in the final months of last season that helped Tony Pulis’ side reach the Championship play-offs.

TEAMtalk reports that the former Barcelona prospect is now available for £18 million due to a release clause in his contract. Interestingly, the report adds that Wolves are not keen to meet that price, but are looking to pursue a deal that could cost them considerably more this summer.

TEAMtalk adds that Wolves are not willing to pay £18 million up front for Traore and thus, they will have to offer a total fee worth more than the price of his release clause, so they could ultimately end up paying £26 million.

If Traore is able to find his best form at Molineux, he could quite easily make that fee look like a real steal from Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, but there have to be concerns given that he is yet to show exactly what he is capable of at the highest level.

Oddly however, if the deal is topped up by performance-related add-ons, it may prove beneficial for the 22-year-old to move for a potential £26 million rather than £18 million up front as there may perhaps by less pressure on with the Spaniard only costing the higher fee if he proves to be a superb signing for Nuno’s side.
