According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Wolves could find their desired Raúl Jiménez cover in the form of Patrick Cutrone.
The Italy international, who Wolves signed for £23 million, is currently out on loan at Fiorentina.
However, Di Marzio states that the striker could head back to Molineux, 12 months on from his initial exit from the Midlands.
Why? Well, after Fiorentina modified the deal so that their obligation to buy turned into an option to buy, Cutrone has struggled for game time.
The 23-year-old hasn’t made a single start in Serie A this season, and has been handed just 11 appearances, all of which have come as a substitute.
Where he’s struggling to break into the Italian outfit’s starting XI, there is in fact space for him at Wolves after the injury to Jiménez.
Di Marzio states that Wolves could recall their out-on-loan marksman to provide cover for the injured Mexico international.
This would be a very interesting move, and would also hand Cutrone the opportunity that he arguably never received in the first place.
After arriving at Molineux from AC Milan, Nuno Espirito Santo handed the Italian just three Premier League starts before loaning him out.
Nuno has previously been very complimentary of the forward, so a resurrection to his Wolves career doesn’t feel out of the equation, in our view.
The Express and Star quote Nuno as saying in 2019: ‘He’s a fighter, and we appreciate it. He’s been working very well for the team. He’s a player that brings a lot of energy when he goes on the pitch.’
