According to the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers have cooled their interest in signing Espanyol striker Wu Lei – and e could end up at Watford.
It’s claimed that Espanyol are struggling financially due to the global pandemic, and will ultimately have to sell players this summer.
Chinese attacker Wu Lei has been linked with Wolves of late, but it’s now stated that they appear to be backing away from him.
Instead, he has now been offered to Premier League rivals Watford, and are showing greater interest than Wolves right now.
Wu Lei joined Espanyol for £1.8million last year, having smashed 169 goals in 347 games for Shanghai SIPG over in China.
He has hit 11 goals and three assists in 60 games for Espanyol, and could have been an attractive addition for Wolves’ owners.

Wu Lei is a major star in China, and Fosun International – the Chinese conglomerate who own Wolves – will be well aware of the commercial aspects of signing him.
He is quick, dangerous and versatile, but with Wolves waiting for Daniel Podence to make his big impact, they may not sign Wu Lei after all, possibly giving Watford a shot at a deal.
