Wolves’ search for their new manager is continuing, and it appears that there may have been an interesting development.
A report in the Express and Star has claimed that a mystery candidate has entered the running to be Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next manager.
The Express and Star reports that, with the interview stage continuing, Nigel Pearson and Paul Lambert are still the front-runners to become Walter Zenga’s permanent successor at Molineux.
Paul Lambert remains a front-runner for the job
However, the Express and Star interestingly adds that it is believed that another potential option has emerged for the position that the Championship club hope to fill over the coming week.
Meanwhile, the Express and Star also suggests that former Wolves midfielder Paul Ince is out of the running and Tim Sherwood’s chances of landing the job are unclear, but current caretaker Rob Edwards is in contention.
Nigel Pearson is also in the running
After Zenga’s tenure failed to capture the imagination, Wolves supporters will surely be hoping, if this mystery candidate is a serious contender for the position, that he boasts some experience of managing in the English game, and even more preferably, in the second tier.
The club’s squad is surely strong enough to survive, but there is arguably a danger that they could soon be left behind in the race for the play-offs, and so, making the right appointment could be vital to their hopes of bouncing back this term.
