According to The Telegraph, Wolverhampton Wanderers considered making a move for Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, but they are close to signing Nelson Semedo from Barcelona instead.

It has been reported that Wolves manager Nuno is looking for a new right wing-back following the departure of Matt Doherty to Premier League rivals Tottenham earlier this summer.

Wolves did consider United’s 27-year-old right-back Baldock, but the Wanderers are now closing in on the signing of Nelson Semedo from Barcelona, according to the report.

Stats

Baldock has been on the books of the Blades since the summer of 2017 and has established himself as an important player in Chris Wilder’s team.

According to WhoScored, the 27-year-old right-back scored two goals and provided three assists in 38 Premier League matches for United last season.

Semedo joined Barcelona from Benfica in 2017 and is an important player for the Blaugrana.

According to WhoScored, the 26-year-old Portugal international right-back made 24 starts and eight substitute appearances in La Liga for Barcelona last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process.

The right-back also provided one assist in seven Champions League matches for Barca in 2019-20, according to WhoScored.
