According to the Mirror, Wolves considered a move for Chelsea frontman Olivier Giroud during the January transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo was on the lookout for a new centre-forward after Raul Jimenez suffered a serious head injury.

The Mirror say that Liverpool forward Divock Origi was also considered by the Midlands-based outfit.

In the end, Wolves secured a loan move for Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose, who is yet to score or assist in three Premier League appearances.

The Brazilian is still adapting to life in England, to be fair to him.

Against Arsenal last night, the Brazilian won the penalty from which Ruben Neves scored from, and began to look like some sort of threat.

However, if Nuno had signed Giroud, Wolves surely wouldn’t have needed to wait for him to settle in.

The World Cup winning Frenchman – who cost Chelsea £18 million from Arsenal – is seriously experienced at this level.

Giroud has amassed a huge 249 Premier League appearances, in which he’s netted 89 goals and assisted a further 28.

The ex-Montpellier striker also would’ve been ideal for the likes of Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto, in our view.

Giroud boasts exquisite hold-up play abilities, which would’ve enabled the aforementioned, diminutive attackers to get into the game more often.

The 34-year-old oozes class and would’ve been a great signing, although it wasn’t to be for the Old Gold.
