According to BILD, Wolves are thinking about triggering their purchase clause for Hwang Hee-chan, with Liverpool and Manchester City lurking.
What’s the story?
Well, Hwang has shone in the Premier League since joining Wolves on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.
The 25-year-old scored four Premier League goals in his first six appearances, before his form tailed off and he suffered an injury.
Nevertheless, Wolves remain impressed by what they’ve seen from Hwang, and are thinking about activating their €16.5m (£14m) option to buy.
Elsewhere, it was the Sunday Mirror who revealed that Liverpool and Manchester City are interested in the 43-cap South Korea international.
Both Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola have seemingly been left impressed by Hwang’s efforts in the Premier League, which comes as no surprise whatsoever.
It remains to be seen if the Reds and the Citizens are also able to sign him for £14m, or if that option is exclusive to Wolves and their agreement with RB Leipzig.
Wolves must sign Hwang Hee-chan now before Liverpool and Manchester City get involved
If Wolves wait until the summer to activate their £14m clause, they risk allowing others to enter the conversation.
Liverpool and Manchester City are already interested, and if Hwang continues to shine in the Premier League, others are likely to get involved.
Clubs of that stature are sure to turn Hwang’s head, so Wolves need to act quickly before they allow the South Korean to become distracted by interest from elsewhere.
At 25 years of age, the former RB Salzburg attacker is right in the middle of his prime years, and has shown no issues in adapting to the Premier League.
Therefore, £14m is a bargain, so there’s no reason for Bruno Lage not to stump up the cash and sign Hwang on a permanent basis.
