According to a report from Portuguese outlet Record, Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal with Porto to sign Vitor Ferreira on a season-long loan deal in the coming days.

Wolves have suddenly become active in this transfer window. Fabio Silva and Marcal’s signings came in quick succession and it looks like Ferreira will be the next one very soon.

The report claims that the young midfielder will head to the Molineux after he completes his international duties with Potugual’s under-21 setup. A season-long loan deal has been agreed and Wolves also have an option to sign him permanently next summer for about £18 million.

The Wanderers have hugely benefited from their association with super-agent Jorge Mendes. Ferreira is another client of Gestifute and it is no surprise that Wolves are getting him without much competition.

The 20-year-old will join Wolves’ long list of Portuguese imports. The youngster will learn a lot from the likes of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves who have thrived at the Molineux over the last few years.

Ferreira is an attacking midfielder by trade but he is capable of playing in a deeper role. The youngster is an excellent dribbler and possesses a very impressive passing range for someone of his age.

Ideal long-term replacement to Joao Moutinho?

The Portuguese under-21 international will thrive in Nuno Espirito Santo’s counter-attacking system. He has the ability to drive with the ball on the break and his dribbling skills make it very difficult for the opponents to stop him.

However, Ferreira has very little senior experience having played just 12 times for Porto’s first-team. All of his appearances have come off the bench, but with time and proper guidance, he has the potential to be a very good player for Wolves.

Moutinho will turn 34 tomorrow and it is about time that Wolves line up a replacement for him. Ferreira could well be the one to replace the highly experienced Portugal international and who better to learn from than the man himself next season.
