Wolverhampton Wanderers have offered £13.5 million for Lanus forward Pedro De la Vega but the Argentine club hopes to keep its prized asset until its season ends in February, according to Correio do Povo.

Just two weeks ago Wolves fans were fretting about a lack of new faces at Molineux as time ticked down until the end of the transfer window.

However, in the blink of an eye Nuno Espirito Santo’s wish has come true.

The Wolves boss made it clear he wanted to add depth to one of the smallest squads in the Premier League and he can now call on Lyon’s Champions League hero Marcal, Portugal U21 midfielder Vitor Ferreira and club-record £35 million signing Fabio Silva.

And, according to reports in South America, a Spanish-speaking youngster could be about to join an Iberian-influenced dressing room.

Wolves have made a £13.5 million offer for De La Vega, although Lanus are determined to keep hold of ‘Pepo’ until next year.

A slaloming winger with a velvet touch, hammer shot and skill that wouldn’t look out of place on FIFA Street, the Argentina U20 international has also been linked with Manchester City and Leeds – although Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti has ruled out a potential move to the San Siro (Ole).

“The players that stand out are followed by our recruiters but it doesn’t mean they will come to Inter,” Zanetti said when asked about De La Vega.

Pepo ticks a lot of boxes for a Wolves side that has made a mission of making Molineux home to some of the game’s gleaming, if unpolished, gems.

Ferreira and Silva are aged just 20 and 18 respectively, while fellow teenagers Pedro Neto, Nigel Lonwijk, Justin Hubner, Luke Matheson and Leonardo Campana have all moved to the Black Country since last summer.
