According to reports from the Birmingham Mail, Benik Afobe is expected to leave AFC Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Afobe has dropped down the pecking order at the club and hasn’t scored this season. The report claims that Eddie Howe is happy to move him on.

The 24-year-old who joined Bournemouth in 2016 is looking for a January move rather than having to wait till the summer.

The Cherries want the £10 million they paid Wolves when they signed him, and his transfer fee could be a sticking point for West Brom who are interested in securing his signature.

Alan Pardew is looking to make necessary incursions in the transfer market but money is tight at the Hawthorns, and hence the Baggies are expected to arrange a loan deal.

The report claims that Wolves are also keen on taking their former player back on a temporary basis. Afobe scored 22 goals in 46 league games for Wolves before joining Bournemouth, and he would be a decent addition to Nuno Santo’s squad.

Eddie Howe, the Bournemouth manager, meanwhile has said that Afobe still has a valuable part to play at the club.
