Wolverhampton Wanderers and Huddersfield Town are ‘exploring ways to sign’ the Lincoln City youth team striker Jordan Adebayo-Smith ahead of the January transfer window, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The website claims Lincoln are already considering an offer from an unnamed Premier League club for Adebayo-Smith, whom it adds was linked with a move to Watford before his August arrival at Sincil Bank.

But Wolves and Huddersfield may yet put up a fight, with scouts from both clubs having watched – and been pleased with – the 17-year-old score a hat-trick in an FA Youth Cup tie against South Shields earlier this month, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The website describes Adebayo-Smith, who has featured on the bench for Lincoln’s first team this season but is still awaiting his senior debut, as a “lightning quick and very skillful striker with an eye for goal”.

Huddersfield recently restructured their academy system, downgrading to Category 4 in the Elite Player Performance Plan – which is four below Wolves and could have a bearing on any decision made by Adebayo-Smith.
