Rafinha is hoping for a Premier League switch this summer, with Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers long-time admirers of the £14 million-rated Barcelona midfielder, according to Sport.

While speculation linking Thiago with from Munich to Merseyside feels a little wide of the mark, it seems that the younger Alcantara brother could be heading to Stanley Park in his place.

Everton have a history when it comes to relieving Barcelona of their high-earning bench-warmers.

After bringing Andre Gomes, Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne to Goodison Park, Rafinha could be set to tread a well-worn path.

Sport claims the Brazil international has an offer on the table from Chinese Super League outfit Shanghai Shenhua.

But, rather than follow in the footsteps of Hulk, Oscar and co, Rafinha appears to value his reputation over his bank balance. The 27-year-old is holding out for a move to England with Wolves expected to challenge Everton for his £14 million-rated signature.

Thanks largely to a series of injuries, including a cruciate ligament rupture which kept him out for over 200 days in 2018/19, the La Masia graduate has made just eight La Liga appearances for Barcelona during the last three seasons.

When fit and firing, however, one of the most naturally gifted attacking midfielders in Europe has showcased tantalising glimpses of genuinely jaw-dropping technical ability.

Keep him fresh and Everton could finally have a player capable of linking a dangerous attack with an often anonymous and underperforming midfield.

At Wolves, meanwhile, Rafinha could thrive in one of those dual number ten roles behind Raul Jimenez.

The former Inter Milan loanee has won three La Liga titles and the 2015 Champions League at Barca.
