Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley are reportedly both interested in signing young defender Jamie Hamilton.
Wolves and Burnley are both considering a potential summer move for 17-year-old prospect Jamie Hamilton, who the Daily Mail reports has been compared to John Stones.
The centre-back is currently on Hamilton Academical’s books and was included in their matchday squad for their Scottish Premiership clash with Livingston on Saturday.
The Daily Mail reports that the Scotland under-17 captain’s composure on the ball has led to comparisons with the Manchester City star, who cost £47.5 million when he joined the club in 2016 (via BBC Sport).
Unsurprisingly, the teenager is set to cost nothing like that amount if he moves in the summer. The Mail suggests that both Wolves and Burnley are monitoring Hamilton and may not need to break the bank to convince Accies to sell.
The report claims that offers of around £800,000 are expected to be made in the summer, and they would find it difficult to turn those kind of bids down.
For the likes of Wolves and Burnley, it would not be a big ask to meet Hamilton’s reported asking price. If he is able to realise anything like his full potential, that fee would prove to be an absolute bargain. But it may not be a huge surprise if they are not the only sides taking a serious interest by the time the summer window opens.
