The Athletic have suggested that Mathew Hobbs will not leave Bruno Lage’s Wolverhampton Wanderers for Graham Potter’s Chelsea or Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
Hobbs is the Chief Scout and Head of Player Recruitment at Wolves at the moment, and has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United.
Football Insider reported earlier this month that Manchester United and Chelsea are lining up moves for Hobbs.
However, according to The Athletic, he is very much working for Wolves at the moment and is involved in signing players for the future.

When asked about Wolves’ interest in youth South American players and the future of Hobbs, Wanderers reporter Steve Madeley told The Athletic today: “It is still a market that the club are keen on with Mathew Hobbs heavily involved.
“He travelled to South America in the summer to explore some possible deals and, although none came off at the time, there are still some that could be resurrected.
“The striker situation which has been around for a couple of years apart surely all Wolves fans must be delighted with the summer transfer business.”
Encouraging for Wolves
Mathew Hobbs has been at Wolverhampton Wanderers for over seven years now and is an important figure at the club.
Hobbs has worked in a number of roles at Wolves, including Head of Academy Recruitment, and his status at the Wanderers is high.
That Chelsea and Manchester United are reportedly looking at Hobbs shows just how highly he is rated in the footballing community.
Wolves should do their best to hold on Hobbs, who is brilliant at spotting players.
That the Chief Scout and Head of Player Recruitment is still working in his capacity at the moment is encouraging for Wolves.
