Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rotherham United and Preston North End are all interested in Newcastle United’s Adam Armstrong.
According to a report in the Chronicle, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been joined in the race for Newcastle United striker Adam Armstrong by Rotherham United and Preston North End.
It has previously been suggested that Newcastle would not be keen on loaning Armstrong out to a fellow Championship side, but that stance may now have been relaxed.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez had wanted to assess Armstrong’s abilities over pre-season, but his chances of doing so are now limited.
Armstrong has picked up an injury, which means he will not get up to full speed as quickly as many of his Magpies’ teammates.
The Chronicle now suggests that the 19-year-old could be allowed to leave Newcastle on loan, with Wolves, Rotherham and Preston all keen.
Armstrong scored 20 goals for Coventry City in League One last season, and Wolves, Rotherham and Preston believe that he is capable of having an impact at a higher level.
Some Newcastle fans have been hoping that Armstrong will be handed a chance at St. James’ Park next season, but it seems that Benitez could turn to more experienced options as he looks to guide the North East side out of the Championship at the first attempt.
