The former Aston Villa and Norwich City boss looks to have managed his final game as Wolves boss.

Wolverhampton Wanderers seem very likely to have a new manager in place by the start of next season, despite current boss Paul Lambert being in charge since November, as reports the Express and Star.

Lambert’s future has come into question recently following claims that there’s a possibility that the former Aston Villa man wouldn’t have the final say over players anymore, as reports BBC Sport, leading to rumours that he could walk away from the club.

The BBC Sport report claims that Lambert is highly sceptical of super agent Jorge Mendes’ involvement in the recruitment policy at the club, as he advises the owners who to sign, and while Lambert is happy to be given suggestions, if he doesn’t have the final word on transfers, he would be on his way.

It now seems as if he’s going to be pushed before he gets the chance to walk, as according to the Express and Star, the Wolves hierarchy have began sounding out possible replacement managers, both from England and afar, with Lambert now expecting to be sacked by the club.

Lambert successfully steered Wolves away from relegation this season following the disastrous appointment of Walter Zenga at the start of the campaign, and ultimately the Molineux side finished 15th in the Championship table.

However, it seems pretty certain that Lambert will be out of a job almost as soon as he found himself in one, with Wolves potentially looking to hire their fourth head coach/manager in the space of 10 months.
