Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City have missed out to Aston Villa in the race for Tottenham Hotspur’s Josh Onomah.

The Daily Mirror claim that both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City have attempted to sign Josh Onomah on loan from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Onomah is set to move to Aston Villa on a temporary spell, with Spurs entrusting Steve Bruce’s side with one of their top prospects.

However, both Wolves and Norwich had wanted to bring Onomah in – with the youngster very much in demand.

Wolves felt that Onomah’s arrival could have bolstered their midfield ranks, and given them more creativity in forward areas.

Norwich, meanwhile, are known to be looking for more strength and depth – but look set to miss out on signing the England youth international.

Onomah has been brought to Villa to cover for the absence of Jack Grealish, who is set to miss a sizeable chunk of the campaign with injury.

Grealish damaged his kidney during a pre-season friendly, and could now miss the first six months of the season.

Villa get their Championship campaign under way tomorrow, with a match against Hull City. It is not yet clear whether Onomah will feature in that contest.
