According to Sky Sports Live blog (10:27am, February 1, 2021), West Ham United defender Winston Reid is leaving for Brentford.

It has been reported that Brentford, who are aiming for automatic promotion from the Championship, are set to sign the defender on loan from Premier League club West Ham on transfer deadline day.

Sensible move

Reid has been on the books of West Ham since 2010 and is a very experienced defender, but he does not seem to be part of manager David Moyes’s plans at the moment.

The New Zealand international has had injury problems in recent years and also had a loan spell at Sporting Kansas City.

The defender would have struggled for playing time at West Ham this season, and it makes sense that he is reportedly on his way to Brentford on loan for the rest of the campaign.

The London club are doing well at the moment and are aiming to clinch promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.

The Bees are currently third in the standings with 48 points from 25 matches, six points behind leaders Norwich City, who have played 26 games.
