According to The Athletic, Brighton are set for contract talks with Leandro Trossard as they try to tie their star man down to a new deal.
The Belgian has started this season in fine fettle, he’s got two goals to his name already and he’s caused all sorts of problems in almost every game he’s played.
As a fully-fledged Belgium international, Trossard is one of the most talented players at Brighton, and it’s no surprise to hear that they want to give him a new deal.
However, getting Trossard to put pen to paper may be easier said than done.
Indeed, the winger has recently admitted that he would like to leave Brighton if the opportunity arose for him to join a big club as a regular starter.

“I have evolved tremendously. I now know how the Premier League works. I’ve grown tremendously in that. Confidence, mentally, physically. I have become better. Our coach did leave for Chelsea now but speculations about me following him make no sense,” Trossard said.
“If the opportunity arises, I want to go, but I want to play and not sit on the bench.”
These comments are made all the more interesting when you consider the fact that Arsenal have recently been credited with a strong interest in the attacker, but given that Trossard wants to be a regular starter, a move to the Emirates may not make all that much sense.
Indeed, with Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe already competing for starting spots on the wings, Trossard would likely be more of a rotation option if he headed to Arsenal.
In fact, all of the so-called Big Six are set on the wings at the moment, so a transfer away from Brighton may not be all that appealing to Trossard after all. At least until a spot in a starting XI comes up.
Trossard is certainly good enough to play for a bigger club, but with the Belgian prioritising gametime over anything else, he could be tempted into signing a new contract with the Seagulls instead of pursuing a move to a club like Arsenal.
