Arsenal winger Willian has told The Daily Mail that he thinks that his former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is doing well at Tottenham Hotspur at the moment.
The Brazil international was also coy when asked if Mourinho wanted to sign him for Tottenham in the summer transfer window.
The 32-year-old, who can also operate as an attacking midfielder, worked with the Portuguese boss at Chelsea.
Willian joined Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season.
In April, TEAMtalk reported interest in the Brazilian from Spurs, while well-known sports presenter Richard Keys claimed on the Keys & Gray show in May that the attacking player had held talks with Mourinho.
Willian told The Daily Mail about Mourinho: “We are friends, you know. He is doing a good job there. Inside the pitch I do my job and he does his. But outside the pitch we are friends.
“I don’t think that should be a problem, to text and say ‘good luck’ or something. I think until now he is the best manager I have had. As everyone said, the ‘Special One’.”
When asked whether Mourinho was in touch with him regarding a summer move, Willian just laughed, as reported in The Daily Mail.
Encouraging
While Willian may not be working under Mourinho now, it is very encouraging to see that the duo remain friends and text each other.
It shows the kind of relationship that Mourinho has with players he has enjoyed working with and he rates highly.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
