According to the Daily Mail, Wigan Athletic may be given permission to sell players early in order to solve their financial problems.
The Latics announced their intention to enter administration last week, in a move which has left many baffled as financial problems weren’t exactly reported before the announcement.
As things stand, Wigan may need to sell key players to raise funds. It’s now thought that they may be given special dispensation offload players before the transfer window opens in order to bring in much-needed cash.
Discussions over such an arrangement are ongoing, with Wigan needing cash now in order to see out the season – and that could alert the likes of Celtic, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United.
Celtic are keen on David Marshall, with The Herald claiming last week that Wigan will sell the goalkeeper in a cut-price deal with the veteran interested in re-joining the Bhoys.
Elsewhere, The Sun claim that Tottenham are hoping to seal a double deal for Wigan talents Joe Gelhardt and Jensen Weir, with Gelhardt considered a star of the future.
The Daily Star add that West Ham want to sign Wigan defender Cedric Kipre, meaning the Latics could sell a number of players with suitors lining up.
Clubs will be hoping to land Wigan players in cut-price moves, and interested sides will be preparing quick moves should the Latics be given permission to sell players now.
