Report: Wigan could bid to loan Everton trio, including Kieran Dowell

Wigan Athletic could reportedly target a loan move for three Everton youngsters should the club’s takeover go through quickly enough.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63), Everton trio Antonee Robinson, Kieran Dowell and Callum Connolly could all be on Wigan Athletic’s radar if the Championship club manage to get their takeover sorted early enough.

The Sun on Sunday reports that the takeover at the DW Stadium is moving up a gear and could be completed in time for special adviser Joe Royle to utilise his contacts at Goodison Park and get some loan deals agreed.

The Sun on Sunday (29/07; page 63) reports that the Latics could look to sign Robinson, Dowell and Connolly for the coming season should the club manage to get the takeover completed in time.

It would certainly be a boost for the trio if they were to temporarily leave Goodison Park to join Wigan for the coming campaign. All three players spent last term on loan in the Championship – Robinson helped Bolton Wanderers stay up, Connolly was extremely impressive for Ipswich Town and Dowell enjoyed an incredible first-half of the season at Nottingham Forest.

They appear to still be out of Marco Silva’s plans for the coming season, so heading into the second tier once again where they can enjoy regular game-time seems to make a lot of sense.

And while it may not make a major difference to their prospects of making the grade with the Toffees, it has to be beneficial if the three of them end up in the same team where they can continue to play alongside each other.
