Wigan Athletic will reportedly face a fight if they hope to sign Everton left-back Antonee Robinson this summer.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (23/6; page 60), Wigan have now made a bid for Antonee Robinson, but Bristol City and Brentford are also interested in the Everton full-back.
Robinson has gone into this summer off the back of a brilliant loan spell with the Latics as he helped keep Paul Cook’s men in the Championship. The 21-year-old made 26 league appearances at the DW Stadium, but his path to the first-team at Goodison Park continues to be blocked.
Lucas Digne was outstanding during his first year with the Toffees and Leighton Baines is set to remain on Merseyside for another year as his understudy. And it appears that that could leave Robinson looking for another move this summer.
The Sun on Sunday (23/6; page 60) has suggested that the USA international could leave Everton on a permanent basis for around £2.5 million this summer, with Wigan already making a bid for the starlet.

The report notes that the Robins could be the favourites for his signature due to the Toffees’ asking price, but the Bees are also keen on landing the youngster.
There may be some disappointment if Everton do indeed let Robinson go permanently this summer. Baines may leave big shoes to fill, but perhaps Robinson should be loaned out for another 12 months and given the chance to prove that he can take that next step after the promise he showed this past year.
