West Bromwich Albion are said to have been giving serious thought to offering Cranie a contract.
Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers are weighing up deals for Martin Cranie, who has been training at West Bromwich Albion, according to the Sun (August 1st, page 49).
Right-back Cranie was released by Middlesbrough at the end of last season, having helped Huddersfield Town into the Premier League the previous campaign.
But another Championship move looks likely, with Wigan and Bolton the latest clubs to be credited with interest in the 31-year-old, after West Brom.
The Birmingham Mail reported earlier this week that Baggies boss Darren Moore was ‘giving serious thought’ to offering Cranie a contract.
But the Lancashire pair could soon have a clear path to sign him, with West Brom’s latest bid for Tom James accepted by Yeovil Town.
The Daily Mirror reports the Baggies’ offer for James, who plays in the same position as Cranie, is worth around £400,000.
