Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez spotted at Newcastle United’s training ground earlier this week and so was Lee Charnley.

According to the Chronicle, Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez was at the training ground simply as a ‘routine visit’, rather than for anything to do with his contract.

Benitez was spotted at Newcastle’s training ground on Monday, and Lee Charnley was also pictured there on the same day.

There was hope around St. James’ Park that Benitez’s decision to turn up was connected to his Newcastle future.

However, it seems that the visit was simply a routine one, and uncertainty remains around the Spaniard.

Benitez has just over two weeks remaining on his current deal at Newcastle, and he has still not penned new terms.

Although Benitez hasn’t broken off communication with Newcastle, he is yet to receive the assurances that he wants.

The Magpies really need to get Benitez’s contract sorted, otherwise they will face a strong backlash from supporters.

Benitez has made himself very popular at Newcastle, and it is hard to see the Tynesiders upgrading their manager, if he was to leave.
