Report: Which club agent prefers Newcastle United target to be at next season

According to Sport, the agent of Phillipe Coutinho prefers the Barcelona attacking midfielder to join Chelsea to a move to Newcastle United.

The report in the Spanish publication has claimed of interest in the former Liverpool star from Premier League duo Chelsea and Newcastle.

The 27-year-old, who can also operate as a winger, is on loan at Bayern Munich at the moment, having joined the German club last summer.

However, Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has told Der Spiegel that the Bundesliga club have decided not to exercise the option to sign the Brazil international on a permanent basis.

Sport has reported that Coutinho will leave Barcelona for good this summer, with his agent’s preferred destination being Chelsea, although Newcastle are also interested in signing the former Inter Milan man once the proposed takeover by Saudi Arabia’s PIF goes through.

According to WhoScored, Coutinho has made 15 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Bundesliga for Bayern so far this season, scoring eight goals and providing six assists in the process.

The Barcelona-owned attacking midfielder has also made five starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Bayern, scoring one goal and providing two assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
