West Ham United have reportedly suggested that they are not willing to pay over the odds for Kostas Fortounis.

According to a report from the Daily Star, West Ham have told Olympiakos that they are happy to offer £15 million for Kostas Fortounis, but are not willing to pay over the odds with other targets also on the Hammers’ radar.
Fortounis has found himself on Manuel Pellegrini’s shortlist after an outstanding season in which he scored 17 goals and provided 16 assists in all competitions from attacking midfield.
And with Mario Husillos knowing the 26-year-old from his time with the Greek club, it is little surprise that the Irons have looked to hold discussions about a potential summer move.
The Daily Star reports however, that West Ham have told Olympiakos that while they are willing to pay the eight-figure fee, they are more than happy to walk away from talks without a deal if more is required with Fortounis having just one year left on his contract.

The Star notes that Isaac Hayden is their preferred target in midfield, while their bid for Andre Gomes remains on the table, despite their expectation that Everton will win the race for his signature.
Based on his form this past season, it does appear to have the potential to be a real coup if they could agree a £15 million move, even if he is set to be available for nothing in 12 months.
But with Pellegrini reportedly working with a modest budget, it is no surprise that the Hammers are remaining cautious in their approach and looking to avoid paying over the odds for the midfielder.
