Liverpool midfielder Thiago is said to have ‘redoubled’ his efforts on the training ground after being dropped for their clash against Real Madrid.
The Athletic report that Thiago has really made a concerted effort to prove himself to Jurgen Klopp in training of late, after being left out of Liverpool’s biggest European clashes.
The Spaniard sat on the bench for both the first and the second leg, as Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League.
Klopp’s decision to leave Thiago out summed up how badly his first season at Anfield has gone to date, but rather than be defeated, the former Bayern Munich man seems to have used his omission as motivation.
The Athletic say that he has begun to make even more of an effort to impress in training and become a very popular member of Liverpool’s squad.
Thiago’s efforts certainly have paid off in recent weeks, as his performances have begun to improve.
The World Cup winner struck his first goal for Liverpool as they beat Southampton 2-0 at the weekend.
And Thiago has now surely established his position in Liverpool’s starting line-up for the short-term.

Thiago deserves great credit for showing such determination in training.
He is a player who has won the biggest trophies as a player and could easily have rested in his laurels when Klopp decided to leave him out against Madrid.
However, Thiago has shown an example of the drive which has made him such an elite level player.
And the hope is that the 29-year-old can play a much bigger role at Anfield next season, now he has had time to settle on Merseyside.
